Rossland's favourite gameshow is back!!
After many enquiries and a little pressure from Rosslanders wanting another fun night of trivia, games and silliness, Rossland Radio is pleased to announce the return of "The Price Is Jeopardy Or No Deal Of Fortune".
This fun, prize filled event for teams of 10 people, with a licenced bar, will take place on March 19th 2010 and will raise funds for both Rossland Radio Co-Op and the Rossland Skate Park. Don't worry if you don't have enough people for a team, you can join one on the night.
Just 100 tickets are available, they're $10 per person and will be available from Cafe Books, Washington Street in Rossland. Or it's $15 at the door if there are any tickets left.
Doors open at 7pm, fun starts 7.30.
This is an over 19's event - sorry, no minors.
Heaps of prizes and heaps of fun!
Who will unseat the Red Resort rental shop team from their place as reigning champions? How far will you go to win points for your team and prizes for yourself?
TPIJONDOF 2 - Bring your trivia knowledge but leave your inhibitions at home...
Congratulations to regular Monday night caller Colin who won the Rossland Radio goodie bag, filled with t-shirt, stickers, record bowl and signed photo, to celebrate the 1st anniversary of The Missing Link show. The link this week was TV shows and ironically Colin doesn't own a TV!
The weekly "Cleverest Person In Rossland" award went to Jeff Reilly who guessed the link during the first song of the evening.
Thanks to everyone else who called and emailed in with their guesses but missed out in the draw for the goodie bag.
Rossland Radio Co-Op would like to thank everyone who came out and supported our "The Price Is Jeopardy Or No Deal Of Fortune" trivia and games fundraiser. The turnout was awesome and as the host I was blown away by the energy, enthusiasm and competitiveness displayed by just about everyone.
Congratulations to the "Tie One On" team from Red Sports who walked away with the big goodie bag of prizes after a dark horse victory (partly thanks to Buzz Lightbeer's undies) and to Lisa McGonigle who won the big prize of a day of catskiing with Big Red Cats. The event wouldn't have been possible without the amazingly generous donations from many local businesses, who between them donated close to $2500 worth of prizes, and the team of volunteers who gave their time to help out.
As well as being an entertainment success the evening raised $1200 which we split 50/50 with the Johan Kruus Foundation.
As for the rumours of "TPIJONDOF2" - just give me 6 months or so to get over this one and then I'll think about it!

As of midnight at New Year we are now officially broadcasting on 101.1FM and boy did we turn our transmitter on with a party!! A packed Miners Hall saw Marty flick the switch to turn the transmitter on and then partied on into the night. We had an FM costume theme for the party and Rosslanders went to the very limits of creativity to fill the hall with some weird, wonderful and often scary looking "FM's". Some of our favourites included Failed Marriage, a Fluorescent Mariachi dancer, a Flaming Marshmallow, a Flirtatious Milkmaid, a Freakin' Minotaur, a surfer's Fatal Mistake and the guy offering Free Mammograms! Big thanks to Pete at Ross Vegas who had given us a heap of goodies to give away and those with the best costumes were suitably rewarded.
Appropriately the event ran on Kootenay time and midnight was celebrated about 10 minutes late but I don't think anyone really minded, especially not Ali Meredith who walked away with the season pass for Red Resort in the draw at midnight.
Our thanks go to all the DJ's who kept everyone's feet moving, all the volunteers who helped make decorations, ran the bar and checked tickets, and a special mention to the guys at Subway for providing us with some emergency change when the bar ran (financially) dry.
So from everyone at Rossland Radio Co-Op we wish you all a Happy New Year and thanks for a memorable start to our life on the FM dial.
