“RECKLESS ABANDON†Andrew F (New Boy/ Fuller Edge) **
The debut album from this 17 year old Calgary native- already a veteran of that city’s music scene, is… well, it’s a bummer.
While neither reckless nor sporting a spirit of true abandon this disc isn’t half bad, musically speaking- but the lyrics are really depressing. Andrew has a decent voice but judging from the straight out vitriol of some tracks (not to mention his punk roots), some blood-shooting-out-of-the-eyes screaming is called for. So he’s been kicked in the teeth a few times by women- who hasn’t? As Denis Leary would say “Life sucks- get a helmet.â€
It’s fair to speculate that everyone can relate to this stuff, from the toxic relationship in “Crash And Burn†to the sadness of “Rememberâ€. And guys in particular that have been on the receiving end of the ‘let’s just be friends’ speech will have Vietnam-style flashbacks when listening to “Just Friendsâ€.
Ten songs in a row about relationships that tanked is a bit much to take in one swallow, more than I can stand. For a debut it would’ve been more savvy to include some fist pumpin’ rawkers about how good it is to be alive, something to crank on a sunny day. Give us something we want to listen to. Better luck next time, bud.
KEY CUTS: “Sickâ€, “Between H and Jâ€, “So Smallâ€

NO!
This kid is scamming iTunes by making it appear as though he's on par with top sellers like Coldplay, Rihanna, etc. But notice how little support there is for him otherwise? You'd think that if he has sold millions of downloads of his terrible "The End" song, he would have more fans on the internet than he does. But when you search for him, you find his myspace, his site, and a few other online merchants with his album. He had all of his expenses paid to make this tripe, and instead of working hard like a real musician (yes, my envy is showing), he gets thousands of listens and exposure just by paying $$$.
Though, it will backfire. Pretty soon the funds will run dry and nobody will care to listen to him anymore.
By the way, Andrew F, that face you're making on your album cover is SO hardcore.
Overall, Reckless Abandon is just lame emo pop that got popular because of a scam.
