Rossland Radio applied to the CRTC for an FM License [101.1FM] last year. The CRTC takes all the applications and has a hearing which began a few weeks ago. The
hearing is only one small part of the decision making process - it involves
giving people a chance to speak about applications that are contentious [this was not the case for our application]. The rest of the time is spent by commissioners and staff analysing the content of the applications, supporting documents, technical aspects, etc.
No decisions are made on any proceeding until the commission has heard and
received all of the information it will use in making decisions on all of
the items.
Our application had no competing applicants, nothing submitted against our application and there are no technical concerns which is all very favourable for us but waiting for
official confirmation can take a while, perhaps 3 or 4 months.
RRC would like to thank Catherine and Freya, Board Members for the National Community Radio Association for their support and knowledge!
