Things are gearing up for this year's event (rosslandfilmfest.com). Derek Frankowski of Rossland will be sharing his knowledge at the Booty's Den in the Rock Cut Pub for this Saturday's workshop. This interview (half hour) will be repeating four times over the next couple of days so check the schedule and tune in or simply go to our archives and download or listen to it at your convenience.

KATIMA-WHAT!

I’m Marcos Horta, the newest volunteer for Rossland radio, I am from Mississauga Ontario, a city right next to Toronto, and I am all the way here in BC because of this volunteer program called “katimavik”. The way katimavik works is that you go to three different locations in Canada for 3 months each, 9 months in total, and I just happened to be lucky enough to land here and be placed with Rossland radio. One of my passions is music, you know when people say they listen to everything, well its true for me, some of my favorite bands are: Alexisonfire, muse, SOAD, jack Johnson, less than jake, Chris brown, t-pain, and the list goes one. And that’s basically why I choose to be placed here at the Rossland radio. A little about me, what can I say, I am a twin, my brothers name is Roberto, and he did katimavik before me, he’ the reason I’m here now. My other passion in life is rollerblading, I am an aggressive inliner, and its what I do on my spare time as a hobby. I own my own clothing company, with a close friend, on the side, just for kicks I guess, its called high five clothing, and I base it at home in Ontario, and I sponsor local rollerbladers in the area, so I have my own high five team. So I'm sure I’m going to have an amazing time here at RRC and I’m hopping to meet new people try new things, and play/listen to music all day long <3

Fall 2008 Update

Rossland Radio is gearing up for great season of programming. The transmitter is on its way and will be set up to launch 5 watts of power over Rossland on 101.1FM. Lots to do though so if your interested in volunteering join us every second Wednesday of the month for an open station meeting. 7pm, entrance is at the Annex Doors of the United Church.

Rossland Radio will have 50 hours of programming along with many more hours of great streaming music. Spoken word, news shows, local events, sponsorship clips, public service announcements and lots of personalized local programming will be in the line up. If you have an idea and want to assist in producing a show or think you'd like to take another volunteer role, join us.

Thanks to all the volunteers over the past weekend during Golden City Days, it was awesome! Rossland Radio would also like to thank the Legion for a great beer garden.
